Slave Unknown

Marcus Rediker's story The Slave Ship takes you on the journey of slaves and slave owners and you get a bunch of different perspectives of the people who were actually part of this horrible historical time of our country and the slave trade. My passage was on the unknown slave.

Slave Unknown was the slave story I read about. He is a normal man with a normal family. Unfortunately at the time none of this matters because he is black skinned. He and his family were accused like many others at the time of witch craft. They were guilty and sent on a boat to Jamaica. The Unknown Slave who was the main character in my passage was found one day in the bottom of the boat bloody and near death. He slit his own throat. Trying to kill himself instead of slavery, but was unsuccessful. It is such a sad story because he wanted death over slavery and not even that went his way. He tried to cut his throat again and once again he failed to kill himself. He finally died after starving himself to death about a week after the second attempt.

He decided he would be a happier and man with more pride by killing himself rather than living with the burden of having to be owned by someone else and be used for free labor. He never showed the slightest bit of happiness to the people who kidnapped him and refused to speak even though he spoke English. He was persistent and it paid off because he got what he wanted.

He showed extreme pride by not letting other people own him. He literally ended his life before he let them take him.

Post Final Project Reflection

This project was a lot to work through. I knew I wanted it to be a sports game and also somehow realted to football. I decided to make a running back have to get passed defenders. This was the most basic and classic part that I think of when I think about football. I had some struggles, but with the knowledge I have gained throughout the last couple weeks working with Scratch I worked them out easily. I really enjoyed doing this project.

For my scenes I had my cat walk across a basketball court. Then he showed up on a baseball stadium. And last he was just in the white. I chose these backgrounds because I like sports.

Makw A Block Reflection

The make a block was fun to create a scene with two animals interacting. The thing I made was a dog scaring a cat and then they became good friends after all the talking they did.

Game Idea

My game is called Football Runner. There will be one football player that is controlled by the person playing the game. There will also be 4 defensive football players on the screen with a different color jersey that you need to avoid on your way to the End Zone to score a touchdown. The background will look like a football feild that I created myself. If you get to the End Zone and score a touchdown you win, if you run into a different player and get tackled you go back to the start and try it again until you score a touchdown. The scoring will work so once you make it to the End Zone you are awarded 7 points just like a touchdown in real football. You win by getting into the endzone and scoring the game winning touchdown. When you win the game it brings you to a higher level which will increase the number of defensive players and the speed they move.
